Life in Panama City

Nestled along the shores of St. Andrews Bay, Panama City is the largest Florida city between Tallahassee and Pensacola. The bay is steeped in history, visited by the likes of Spanish explorers DeSoto, Pineda and Navarez in the 16th century and then serving as an important center for the shipping industry during World War II. Present day Panama City attracts families with its small-town atmosphere, coastal lifestyle and affordable housing opportunities.

Panama City Marina and St. Andrews Marina, both operated by the city, offer docking services for small to large vessels and access to the Intracoastal Waterway. Panama City has a thriving arts community with the Marina Civic Center, Martin Theatre and the Visual Arts Center providing varied cultural opportunities to the community. The Tyndall Air Force Base is located just east of the city.

Things To Do

Plan an inshore fishing adventure to scout redfish and more. The St. Andrews Bay encompasses four distinct areas or smaller bays – East Bay, West Bay, North Bay and St. Andrews Bay. Panama City is known for outstanding fishing in its vibrant waterways.

Take a day trip to the Florida Caverns State Park in nearby Marianna to experience a rare Florida wonder – take a guided tour through a stunning underground limestone cave system.
